ChamberCustoms Customs Declaration Service (CDS) Training

If you want to know more about the CHIEF system to CDS switchover, you have come to the right place.

HMRC's current CHIEF (Customs Handling Imports and Export Freight) platform - based on 30-year-old technology - will be replaced by the new Customs Declaration Service (CDS) - a platform fit for the digital age.

CHIEF will be closing its e-doors for import declarations on 30th September 2022 and export declarations on 4th June 2024.

Companies and their customs clearance agents must be ready with the additional data required. Keep scrolling to see all of our CDS training courses to set you up for success.

Customer Testimonial:

“ChamberCustoms provided an excellent training program for the CDS changeover. While it was in depth and accurate it also took into account some of the foibles of the new system and gave an insight into how to navigate these. Since they have a close relationship with HMRC through their initial testing of the system we approached them for assistance with issues that we found following our own company change over. During a time that was challenging for all they worked alongside industry competitors, not only to assist with finding a workable solution but to ensure it was compliant too. They also provided in depth explanations and full examples on how to implement these solutions. While the whole industry was facing a unique situation they were truly backing a team effort throughout to achieve the end goal of all being CDS ready.”

CHIEF to CDS Customs Training Courses

ChamberCustoms provides interactive online training courses. Our expert trainers deliver these regularly, covering the CHIEF to CDS transition. We can also provide your company with in-house (remote or on-site) and bespoke training packages.

Outline of our CDS Customs Training

Customs Agents will need to learn the new CDS data elements and completion rules, which will completely replace box numbers found on the soon-to-be-obsolete Single Administrative Document (SAD form) or C88, the Electronic Accompanying Document (EAD form) and all the old reports such as the E2 or the S8.

Companies should be aware of the roles and responsibilities of each party involved in a customs declaration and the information that needs to be supplied and submitted by each party.

Our instructors are hands-on and have been busy at the forefront of CDS testing and development since its beginning, working closely with HMRC, software developers and CSPs on CDS. We are proud to be known as CDS trailblazers, amongst the first agents in the UK to submit a live import declaration and the very first in the UK to submit a live export declaration.
